Timber Frame Brewery

York, PA

This brewery space and tasting room was designed to feel like a modern European beer hall where the brewery’s beverages can be crafted, discussed, and enjoyed.

B&D worked closely with the founder and head brewmaster, who also served as architect for the project. The final space now provides a unique experience for patrons; it’s come to play a pivotal role in the brewery’s operations and reputation.

From the moment patrons pass under the custom brewery archway, they’re treated to thoughtful designs, including curtain wall glass, to provide a clear view of the brewing process and a floor-to-ceiling two-sided fireplace. At the same time, intricate details abound, including hand-forged iron throughout and reclaimed wood floors.

The project showcases the benefits of timber frame structures. The hammer beam timber frame allows for high ceilings and commanding cross beams measuring nearly 30 feet, creating an open and inviting space ideal for brewing beer – and drinking it.
