Wine Tasting Barn

Hydes, MD

This wine tasting barn encompasses so much more than a single tasting room. It is a testament to the craftmanship and attention to detail that goes into the glasses poured there and the commitment to exceptional experiences when enjoying them.

B&D Builders joined the project and saw an opportunity to go above and beyond for the owner by incorporating local materials while also navigating a complex permitting process. The result leaves a lasting impression on anyone who visits.

The project preserved original materials in intentional ways. The wood used throughout the framing was cob blasted to prepare it to be repurposed. Seventy-two fallen ash trees were transported from the property to a sawmill, dried, kiln-dried, milled, and used for the flooring. All told, the process took two years from start to final installation.

“We selected B&D because they clearly understood the language of the barn. One of the goals that we had was for people to walk in and admire this building, but say to us, “What happened? I thought you were going to renovate it?” – Rob Deford

“Working with B&D from the initial meeting was a pleasure. Every step of the way, they helped us figure out the appropriate way to handle some of these practical problems, which would almost disappear.” – Rob Deford
