Pacific Northwest Lodge
On a rocky, secluded shore overlooking the Hecate Strait, this 4,000-square-foot lodge, inspired by the Nordic Stave churches, is a worthy addition to its picturesque surroundings. This visitor center features Douglas fir timber frames, cedar Skirl and board-and-batten siding, and hand-forged hardware.
B&D Builders made a significant commitment to complete this project that included transporting material by barge as well as ensuring teams were appropriately licensed to work in Canada and available for weeks at a time. B&D’s commitment to the client and excellent craftsmanship brought this project to life in a way no other contractor could.
The exterior is defined by its distinct lines and copper roof as the eye is drawn to a one-of-a-kind observation tower.
The building boasts Douglas fir timber frames, white oak flooring reclaimed from Pennsylvania barns, and reclaimed chestnut wall paneling. A custom spiral staircase winds its way behind a river stone chimney to the loft above for meeting in a more private space. Fireplaces made with rock sourced locally from the island and hand-made chandeliers complete the stunning look.
