Fieldstone Recreational Barn
This Chester Springs property carried a rich historic legacy, designed by renowned architect Richardson Brognard Okie and once owned by former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Owen J. Roberts. The current owner selected B&D Builders to breathe new life into the stone and timber bank barn while preserving its singular character.
The owner had a vision for the space and the timeline. He wanted to celebrate with his family in the barn on Christmas Day. The project began with a handshake in the driveway in July. It concluded late in the evening on Christmas Eve. The next day, the family gathered in the barn to enjoy the finished space and the holidays together.

We recognized the owner’s passion for incorporating authentic 19th century period details, which Period Architecture helped bring to life. Custom bar components and hand-forged iron were used throughout the property. Rough-hewn logs dating from the 1700s were saved, lain over stout chestnut beams as strong as the day they were felled.
The barn is built for comfort and camaraderie, with a snow melt system for the outdoor patio, heated floors, a full kitchen, multiple seating areas and fireplaces, and an overnight suite.
“The [Canzanese], who rave about Glick’s dry sense of humor and easygoing demeanor, have stayed in touch with him since their project was completed. In fact, just as they had turned to previous B&D clients for guidance, they now return the favor. “It’s nice to give them the homeowner’s perspective,” Vince says. “It was a real eye-opener and a pleasure to work with Daniel, and we try to share that.” – Vincent Canzanese, in Suburban Life magazine
